Crystal Myslajek is a multi-instrumentalist, performer, and composer, who blends looping, ethereal vocals, and effects with minimalist, post-classical, jazz, and pop forms. She is an avid collaborator across disciplines including experimental film, performance art, theater, and dance. Recent projects include, Cove, released on Moon Glyph, Sea of Being, a collaboration with Aros E-V and the steward, the rev.web released on Corrector Records, Stasis & Motion, a collaborative sound-film piece commissioned by the Walker Art Center; Circadia, an album released on Water Wing Records; a multimedia piece for the 2016 Red Eye Theater Isolated Acts commission; multimedia compositions commissioned by the Cedar Cultural Center’s 416 Club; collaborations with playwright Rachel Jendrzejewski and SuperGroup performance collaborative; and Reflectors, a collaborative music/film piece which she co-presented at the Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival and the Eco Park Film Center in 2016, and at the MONO NO AWARE international film exhibition in Brooklyn, NY in 2015. Myslajek sang and played bass guitar in IE and Brute Heart. The trio was awarded City Pages’ 2012 Best Female Vocalist, featured in filmmaker Doug Aitken’s Station to Station project, and commissioned by the Walker Art Center to compose a score for The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.

Mono No Aware 9th annual expanded cinema exhibition

Tonight is the closing night of Mono No Aware's 9th annual exhibition of expanded cinema, performance, live music, and installation - 15 works by 33 international artists - 1115 Flushing Avenue, Brooklyn, NY I will be performing a sound/cinema piece of vocal looping, synths and multiple 16 mm film projections with John Marks and Sam Hoolihan.
